The 12 feminine archetypes
The feminine archetypes are twelve recurring patterns of instinct, connection and creation found in myth and depth psychology: The Queen, The Huntress, The Strategist, The Hearthkeeper, The Nurturer, The Lover, The Amazon, The Wild Woman, The Seer, The Creatrix, The Muse and The Wise Woman. Every person carries all twelve in different measure, whatever their gender.
They draw on Jean Shinoda Bolen's goddesses (Goddesses in Everywoman, 1984), on Toni Wolff's four forms of the feminine psyche (Mother, Hetaira, Amazon and Medial Woman) and on Clarissa Pinkola Estés' Wild Woman (Women Who Run With the Wolves, 1992). Each card opens the archetype's gifts, its shadow and the figures that echo it.
