Traffic measurement for every visitor

Our own Nyx tool counts page views, time spent on visible pages, scroll depth and outbound link clicks. It reads no cookies or browser storage and stores nothing on your device. It runs for everyone, independently of the consented measurement. The banner is for the additional journey measurement described below.

The traffic count includes the page path without its query string, referring sites and outbound destinations reduced to their host, country, browser and device category. The collector uses the IP address to produce a daily fingerprint. The IP is not kept in the measurement records, and the fingerprint cannot be recomputed the next day. We use these counts in our legitimate interest to understand site use. An answer to the banner is counted separately as a bare accepted or refused tally, without a visitor identifier.

Journey measurement with your consent

Only after you accept do we load our journey script and store a random identifier, nj.v, in this browser. It recognises return visits and records page paths without query strings, referring sites, campaign tags and the actions described below. It carries no name or email address. The journey data is separate from the exempt traffic count and is not joined to it. The legal basis is your consent.

We record test starts and whether they resume, each answer as a letter in canonical answer order, the question index, primary and secondary archetypes, the displayed answer position, click or keyboard input and the time spent. We also record back navigation, restarts, completion with all 30 answers and encoded scores, the top three archetypes and percentages, elapsed time and abandonment on leaving the page.

We record result views with encoded scores, the leading archetype, whether the result was just produced in this tab or shared, and whether a comparison is present. We also record the card reveal, sharing method, copied comparison invitations, kindred links, retakes, archetype page views, language switches and landing calls to action. Test answers and results are therefore sent to Nyx only with your consent.

You can withdraw at any time through Cookies in the footer: open preferences, untick Audience measurement and save. The identifier is erased and future journey collection stops without a reload. Accepting again creates a new identifier. Refusing or withdrawing does not affect the test or the exempt traffic count.

Cookies

The essential arkhe_consent cookie contains only your answer and its date. It records an acceptance for 13 months (395 days), or a refusal for 180 days. Quiz progress and the marker identifying a result just produced by this tab use sessionStorage so the test and result can work across pages.

The consented identifier nj.v is localStorage, not a cookie. It is created only after acceptance. There is no advertising storage or third-party tracking script.

Your written reading and the e-mail

To write the portrait of your fused archetype, the site sends your twelve percentages, with no identifier, to the Anthropic API, and stores the text it returns with your score code, so the same answers always give the same reading.

If you ask for your reading by e-mail, your address goes to Resend, our e-mail provider, only to deliver that e-mail and its PDF. We do not store your address and do not add it to any list. Resend keeps delivery logs under its own retention policy. To prevent abuse, the server counts sending requests per connection, in memory, for one hour.

Retention

The browser storage periods are listed above. Test progress and the own-result marker last for this tab session, with progress removed when the test completes. The journey script does not set an automatic expiry on nj.v. An expired acceptance does not authorise further journey collection.

Withdrawing erases the identifier on your device. It does not itself erase records already collected. For the retention periods of server-side measurement records and hosting logs, or to request erasure, contact hello@koten.studio.

Recipients and infrastructure

Kōten uses these measurements for Arkhē. Vercel hosts the website, and our own Nyx collector infrastructure receives the measurements through this site’s domain. We do not use external analytics providers or sell the data. No advertising network receives your answers or results. Hosting infrastructure necessarily processes technical connection data to deliver and protect the site.

Your rights

You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction of processing and, where applicable, a portable copy of your data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interest and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing.

Write to hello@koten.studio. We respond within one month. A complex request may require up to two additional months, in which case we explain the extension within the first month. As Arkhē has no account, we may need information that lets us locate the records concerned.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
